# How to Enable AI Sign Designer

Enable AI Sign Designer on an existing customiser, configure its fallback form and pricing, then test the customer experience.

## Article

Enable AI Sign Designer on an existing customiser so customers can upload artwork and turn it into a sign they can configure and buy.

## Before you start

Check that:

-   Your customiser uses a supported sign type: Neon, Acrylic Channel Letter, Metal Channel Letter, or Metal Cut-Out.

-   It uses Frame Fit or Material Length (Advanced Letter) pricing. Fixed Width (Simple Letter) pricing is not supported.

-   You have a Custom Design form with a File Upload field. If you do not, Step 4 shows you how to create one.

-   Your account has at least one AI credit before you test the customer experience. Each successful conversion uses one credit.

## Step 1: Open the customiser

1.  Open the Sign Customiser admin.

2.  Select **Customisers**.

3.  Find the customiser you want to update, then select its name.

## Step 2: Open Custom Designs

Under **Core Setup**, select **Custom Designs**.

You can also select **Try AI Sign Designer** from the customiser overview.

## Step 3: Enable AI Sign Designer

Select **Enable AI Sign Designer**.

If the **Pricing & Configuration** section shows your form and settings, continue to Step 5.

If you see **Form Required**, continue to Step 4.

## Step 4: Create the fallback form, if required

The fallback form lets customers submit their artwork when AI Sign Designer cannot process it or when your account has no credits.

Select **Add a form first**.

1.  On the Forms page, select **Add New Form**.

2.  Keep **Custom designs** selected.

3.  Enter a clear label, such as **Custom Design Request**.

4.  Under Fields, select Add new field, then select File Upload.

5.  Enter a label for the field, such as **Upload your design**. We recommend making the field required.

6.  Check the receiver email and the action that should happen after submission.

7.  Select **Save**.

Return to **Core Setup, then select Custom Designs**.

## Step 5: Complete the AI Sign Designer settings

For a **Material Length** customiser:

1.  Set the **Default width** and **Default height**. These are the starting dimensions for an uploaded design.

2.  Set the **Minimum height** your production method can manufacture.

3.  Under **Pricing Model**, select **Material length pricing**.

For a **Frame Fit** customiser, the dimension settings do not appear here. AI Sign Designer uses the customiser's existing Frame Fit dimensions and minimum-size rules.

For either pricing model:

1.  Under **Fallback Form**, select the form that contains your File Upload field.

2.  Review the customer-facing text under **Language** and change it if needed.

## Step 6: Decide whether to auto-process form uploads

Turn on **Auto-process uploaded images with AI** only if you want files submitted through your forms to be sent through AI Sign Designer automatically.

Each processed file uses one credit. Leave this setting off if you want form submissions to remain a manual fallback.

## Step 7: Save and test

1.  Select **Save**.

2.  Preview the customiser.

3.  Open the custom-design upload option and upload a test image.

4.  Confirm that the generated design appears in the customiser and can be configured.

A successful test uses one AI credit. Failed conversions do not use a credit.

## If something is missing

-   **The Enable AI Sign Designer option does not appear:** Check that the sign type and pricing model are supported.

-   **Your fallback form is not listed:** Edit the form and add a File Upload field.

-   **Customers see the fallback form instead of AI Sign Designer:** Check your AI credit balance. The fallback form also appears when an uploaded file cannot be processed.

-   **You use Fixed Width (Simple Letter) pricing:** Change the customiser to Frame Fit or Material Length before enabling AI Sign Designer.
