# Why does adding to cart take so long?

After a customer selects the add-to-cart button, the customer customiser shows a loading screen. Sign Customiser does these steps before the sign goes into the cart: It makes two images of the sign: a preview image and an outline image. It uploads these images to Sign Customiser. It also uploads images that the customer added, such as a custom background. It creates the product. If you connect Shopify or WooCommerce, it also creates the product in your store, with the price and the preview image of the sign. See How your products are created. It adds the product to the cart. On Shopify, a new product is not always available to the cart immediately. Sign Customiser waits a short time after it creates the product. If Shopify is not ready, Sign Customiser tries again to add the product to the cart. A slow connection can make these steps take longer.
