Etsy integration
Connect Etsy once from Integrations, and every customiser in your store pairs with an Etsy listing through a Customiser Link.
Last updated:
The Etsy integration allows you to use Sign Customiser as a hosted design tool for your Etsy listings. Customers design their sign using our app, then copy a summary of their design and paste it into Etsy when placing an order.
Orders are still processed through Etsy, so Etsy handles payments, fees and buyer protection.
How Etsy and Sign Customiser Work Together
-
You connect to Etsy once in your Sign Customiser account.
-
Each customiser is shared via a Customiser Link.
-
Customers design their sign using the link.
-
A structured design summary of their sign is generated (text, size, font, colours, etc.)
-
Customers copy the summary and return to Etsy.
-
They paste the summary into the personalisation box and complete checkout.

Before You Begin
Make sure you have:
-
An active Etsy store
-
A Sign Customiser account (Universal plan)
-
A customiser created for your Etsy product (haven’t created? Follow our Quick Start guide)
-
Your Etsy listing URL ready to use
Setting Up Etsy Integration
Step 1: Connect Your Sign Customiser Account to Etsy
-
Log in to your account: **https://web.signcustomiser.com/**
-
Click on Integrations in the menu.
-
Click on Connect Etsy.

-
Click on Confirm.
Etsy is now connected to your account.
Note: Only one integration can be active at a time. Disconnect any existing integration if needed.
Step 2: Add Your Customiser Link to an Etsy Listing
Etsy does not support embedded customisers, so you must add your Customiser Link to your listing instead. Adding the link to your personalisation box will ensure that the customer cannot buy the sign without pasting the sign details in the field.
Get Your Customiser Link
-
Go to your Sign Customiser account:
-
In the left-hand menu, click on Customisers.
-
Select the customiser you want to use for your Etsy listing.
-
On the left-hand menu, click on Overview.
-
Under Sales channel setup section, copy your Customiser Link.

Add the Link to Your Etsy Listing
-
Log in to your Etsy account.
-
Go to Shop Manager → Listings.
-
Create or edit a listing.
-
Scroll to Item options and click on + Add personalization.

-
In the Instructions for buyers textbox, paste your copied customiser link and include instructions on how to use it. Example:
_Design your sign here:_
https://web.signcustomiser.com/hosted/9506
Use the link above to choose your text, font, colour and size. When you’re happy, copy the design summary, return to this listing and paste your sign details in the field below:

-
Set the Character limit for buyer response high enough to capture the full summary.

-
Turn Make personalization optional for the buyer option OFF.
-
Add all your other details to your listing.
-
Publish your listing.
Your Etsy Listing is all ready.

Step 3: Add Your Etsy Listing’s Return URL to Your Customiser
Even though your listing is ready to receive orders, you will need to add a return URL in your customiser to ensure that the user can go back to the right listing to paste their sign details.
-
Copy your Etsy listing URL.
-
Go to your Sign Customiser account.
-
In the left-hand menu, click on Customisers.
-
Select the customiser used for this listing.
-
On the left-hand menu, go to Overview → Sales channel setup,
-
Click on Edit listing settings.

-
Paste your Etsy listing URL into the Etsy listing URL field.

-
Click Save.
Your customiser is now fully linked to your Etsy listing.

What Your Customers Experience
-
They click your Customiser Link from the Etsy listing description.
-
They design their sign.
-
When they are done, a Customisation summary with the size, every line of text, font, colours, and any options they picked is shown.
-
They click:
-
Copy details, then,
-
Return to Etsy (redirects to Etsy listing)
-
-
They paste the summary into the personalisation box on Etsy.
-
They add item to the cart and complete checkout on Etsy.
Important Notes
-
Each customiser links to one Etsy listing only
-
The Return to Etsy button requires a valid listing URL
-
You can choose to show or hide pricing in the summary depending on your Etsy setup.
Disconnect Etsy
You can disconnect Etsy at any time — no support ticket needed.
-
Open Integrations.
-
On the Etsy card, click Disconnect.
Disconnecting Etsy removes Etsy behaviour from every customiser in your store and frees up the slot for a different integration. Your per-customiser Etsy listing URLs stay saved, so reconnecting later picks up where you left off.
Troubleshooting
The Etsy card shows “Connect another integration first.”
You may have WooCommerce, Wix, Custom API, or Shopify active. Disconnect that one, then connect Etsy.
The Return to Etsy button is greyed out.
Add the Etsy listing URL in the customiser settings
The price on the summary doesn’t match my Etsy listing.
Adjust your pricing in your customiser with your Etsy listing’s price, or untick Show price in your customiser’s settings.
Buyers aren’t pasting the summary into the personalisation box.
Add clear instructions in your listing description and personalisation box. You can also attach a video tutorial to your listing.
