Etsy integration
Connect Etsy once from Integrations, and every customiser in your store pairs with an Etsy listing through a Customiser Link.
Last updated:
Connect Etsy once from your Integrations page and every customiser in your store becomes a hosted design tool that pairs with your Etsy listings. Customers design their sign on your Customiser Link, copy a structured summary of the design, click Return to Etsy, and paste the summary into the Etsy personalisation box at checkout.
Use it if you sell on Etsy and don’t want to switch to Shopify or run your own website. The order still lives on Etsy, so Etsy handles payment, fees, and buyer protection.
Note: The Etsy integration works through a Customiser Link — a shareable URL hosted on signcustomiser.com that you paste into the Etsy listing description.
How it works
Etsy is a store-level integration. Connect it once and every customiser you own uses the Etsy summary flow automatically. There’s no per-customiser toggle to remember.
-
Customiser Link hosting treats every customiser as compatible, so you can share any of them with Etsy buyers.
-
When a customer finishes a design, the sidebar shows an Etsy summary with every detail they picked — size, text, fonts, colours, and options — plus the suggested price (optional).
-
They copy the summary, click Return to Etsy, and land on the Etsy listing URL you’ve saved for that customiser.
Connect Etsy
-
In the Sign Customiser admin, open Integrations.
-
Find the Etsy card and click Connect Etsy.
-
That’s it — Etsy is active for your whole store.
You can only have one active integration at a time (Etsy, WooCommerce, Wix, Custom API, or Shopify). If another integration is already active, disconnect it first.
Set Etsy listing settings for each customiser
Etsy is active store-wide, but the Return to Etsy button needs to know which listing to send each customiser’s buyers back to.
-
Open the customiser you want to pair with an Etsy listing.
-
In the left-hand menu, click Etsy listing settings.
-
Paste the Etsy listing URL into Etsy listing URL. It looks like
https://www.etsy.com/listing/.... Customers land here when they click Return to Etsy. -
(Optional) Untick Show price if you don’t want the suggested price on the summary. Hide it if your Etsy listing uses different pricing or variations the customiser doesn’t know about.
-
Click Save.
Important
Each customiser only sends buyers back to one Etsy URL. If you have several Etsy listings, set up a separate customiser for each one so the Return to Etsy button always lands on the right listing.
Share your Customiser Link on Etsy
With Etsy connected, every customiser shows up in Tools & Settings → Customiser Links under Compatible Customisers. Enable the link for the customiser you want to use, copy the URL, and paste it into the Etsy listing description.
For the listing-side steps (where in the description to put the link, what to write next to it), see Add your Customiser Link to an Etsy listing.
What customers see
-
They click your Customiser Link from the Etsy listing description and design the sign.
-
When they’re done, the sidebar shows an Etsy summary with the size, every line of text, font, colours, and any options they picked. The suggested price sits at the top if you’ve left Show price on.
-
They click Copy summary, then Return to Etsy, which opens the listing URL you saved in the customiser’s Etsy listing settings.
-
They paste the summary into the Etsy personalisation box (or buyer note) and check out on Etsy.
Disconnect Etsy
You can disconnect Etsy at any time — no support ticket needed.
-
Open Integrations.
-
On the Etsy card, click Disconnect.
Disconnecting Etsy removes Etsy behaviour from every customiser in your store and frees up the slot for a different integration. Your per-customiser Etsy listing URLs stay saved, so reconnecting later picks up where you left off.
Troubleshooting
The Etsy card shows “Connect another integration first.” You already have WooCommerce, Wix, Custom API, or Shopify active. Disconnect that one, then connect Etsy.
The customiser doesn’t appear under Compatible Customisers. Etsy isn’t connected. Open Integrations and click Connect Etsy.
The Return to Etsy button is greyed out. The Etsy listing URL field is empty for this customiser. Open the customiser, go to Etsy listing settings, paste in the listing URL, and save.
The price on the summary doesn’t match my Etsy listing. Either align the pricing in this customiser with your Etsy listing’s price, or untick Show price in Etsy listing settings so the customer only sees the design details.
Buyers aren’t pasting the summary into the personalisation box. Add a one-line instruction next to the link in your Etsy listing description, e.g. “After designing, paste the summary into the personalisation box at checkout.”
