What is a Customiser Link?

A Customiser Link is a URL for one of your customisers. We host the URL on our domain, so you do not need a website. Add the URL to a button on your website, a social profile, or an Etsy listing. You can also send it directly to customers.

How to set up a Customiser Link

There are two ways to set up a Customiser Link. Select the way that matches how you take orders:

• Quote Mode - you set it for each customiser. Sign Customiser saves each customer design under Quotes and emails it to you. Then you invoice the customer yourself.

• Etsy integration - you set it for the whole Store. When you connect Etsy, the Customiser Link turns on for every customiser in your Store. Customers paste a design summary into the Etsy personalisation box, then add the item to their basket.

Option A: Quote Mode

Use Quote Mode when you want customer designs in your inbox. Then you invoice the customer yourself.

1. Make a Quote Mode form.

   • Open the customiser.

   • Go to Features → Forms and click Add Form.

   • Set Form Quote Type to Quote Mode (Quoting designs based on customiser options).

   • Make sure the form has an Email field. Required Field is already ticked for it, and you cannot clear it. Quote Mode cannot use a form that has no required Email field.

   • Click Save.

   

2. Turn on Quote Mode for the customiser.

   • Go to Features → Quote Mode and tick Enable Quote Mode.

   • Select your form in Select a quote form.

   • Click Save.

Sign Customiser saves each quote request under Manage → Quotes in Universal, or under Quotes in the Shopify app menu. It also emails the request to the Receiver Email of the form. If that field is blank, it uses the default email of the Store. To get a quote PDF, open the quote request and click Download Quote.

Option B: Etsy integration

Use the Etsy integration when your orders are on Etsy. Connect Etsy one time from Integrations. Then the Customiser Link turns on for every customiser in your Store. Customers design on the link and copy a summary. The customiser tells them to paste the summary into the personalisation box on Etsy, then add the item to their basket. The Etsy integration guide shows how to add a personalisation box to your listing.

1. Open Integrations and click Connect Etsy. The Connect Etsy card shows only when no other integration is on. If you have an active integration, disable it first. A prompt shows two results. Click Confirm. Etsy turns on, and the Customiser Link turns on for your Store.

   

2. Add an Etsy listing URL for each customiser that has an Etsy listing. The Return To Etsy To Place An Order button uses this URL to send customers to the correct listing.

   • On Customiser Links, click Add listing URL next to a customiser that shows Missing Etsy listing URL.

   • To change a saved URL later, open the Etsy listing settings page of the customiser. The admin menu has no link to this page. Go to https://web.signcustomiser.com/app/customisers/<customiser ID>/etsy-mode. Replace <customiser ID> with the ID of your customiser.

   • Paste the URL into Etsy listing URL and click Save.

Get your Customiser Link

After you set up Quote Mode or connect Etsy, you can share the link. The place where you find the link depends on the option you used.

Quote Mode

1. Open the Sign Customiser admin for your Store.

   • Universal subscribers: Sign in at web.signcustomiser.com.

   • Shopify users: Open the Sign Customiser app from your Shopify admin.

2. Open the Customiser Links page.

   • Universal: In the left sidebar, under Your Store, click Customiser Links.

   • Shopify: On the home page, click Tools & Settings. Then click Link to your Customiser.

3. Tick Enable Customiser Link.

4. (Optional) Enter a Return URL. The Back to Store link in the navigation bar sends customers to this address.

5. (Optional) Change the Navigation Colour. In the Logo card, upload your logo.

   

6. Click Save. The Compatible Customisers section now shows on the page.

7. Find your customiser in Compatible Customisers. If the customiser is not there, enable Quote Mode on it first.

8. Click the row of your customiser. Your Customiser Link opens in a new tab. Copy the URL from the address bar of that tab.

If Etsy is connected, this section has the name Add to your Etsy listings. It lists all your customisers.

Etsy

When Etsy is connected, the Customiser Link is on for every customiser. You do not switch it on for each customiser.

1. Sign in at web.signcustomiser.com. In the left sidebar, under Your Store, click Customiser Links.

2. Scroll to Add to your Etsy listings. This section lists every customiser in your Store with its hosted URL.

3. If a row shows Missing Etsy listing URL, click Add listing URL. Paste the Etsy listing URL into Etsy listing URL. Without this URL, the Return To Etsy To Place An Order button does not work.

4. (Optional) Change the Navigation Colour and upload a Logo.

   • Etsy hides the Return URL field. Etsy uses the listing URL to send customers back.

   • Etsy also hides the Back to Store link in the navigation bar. Customers return from the Etsy summary screen.

5. Copy the URL. To copy it with one click, open Etsy listing settings for the customiser and click Copy next to the Customiser Link URL.

You can now share your Customiser Link on your website, on social media profiles, or in your Etsy listing. On Universal, customers can open the link only if your Store has an active subscription or trial.
