Set a built-in Sign Customiser discount

Sign Customiser’s built-in price discount changes the price while the shopper designs a sign, for that one customiser. The original price stays on the product as the struck-through compare-at price. It is separate from Shopify’s automatic discounts and discount codes, which Shopify applies in the cart and at checkout.

Set the built-in price discount

Open Customisers in Sign Customiser.
Select the customiser you want to edit.
Go to Settings → Discounts.
Find Built-in price discount on the page.
Choose Percentage off the total price or Fixed amount off the total price, enter the discount, then save the customiser.

Choose the discount type

Percentage off the total price subtracts a percentage from the sign price. A 10% discount changes a $100 sign to $90. Enter the figure in Discount percentage.

Fixed amount off the total price subtracts the amount you enter from the sign price. Enter the figure in Discount amount.

How Shopify discounts apply afterwards

The built-in price discount substitutes the product price before Shopify receives the generated product. Shopify then calculates any eligible product discount against that lower price.

In our verified test, a 20% built-in price discount changed $79.00 to $63.20. Shopify then applied either an eligible 10% automatic product discount or a 15% product discount code to $63.20. Shopify applied the better product discount; the automatic discount and code did not compound with each other.

To create the Shopify discount, follow Create Shopify discounts for custom sign products. On Shopify, the Discounts page also carries a Shopify discounts card with links straight to the collections a discount should target.

Add text underneath the price

Use Text underneath the price for short customer-facing wording such as “20% off”, “Free shipping” or “VAT included”. The field is blank by default and works with or without a built-in price discount.

Open Customisers and select the customiser.
Go to Settings → Languages.
Open the language shown to your customers.
Use Search labels to find Text underneath the price.
Enter the wording you want to show below the price.
Select Save draft, then select Preview to check the wording in the customer customiser.
Select Publish to make the saved wording available to customers.

For multilingual customisers

Repeat these steps for each published language. Saving a draft does not change the live customiser until you publish it.
