Frame Fit Model
Last updated:
Frame Fit lets customers choose a sign width and height. A size boundary sets the sign’s base price. You can add component and mounting charges. A separate parcel calculation can add a shipping charge or send weight to Shopify.
Open Frame Fit pricing
Create a Frame Fit customiser, or open an existing one. Select Customiser Menu → Core Setup → Pricing, then edit a pricing. In the Universal admin, the Pricing page follows https://web.signcustomiser.com/app/customisers/{id}/lengthPricing. Open Sign Dimension Pricing - (Shipping Unit Pricing) to choose Flat parcel or Volumetric parcel under Shipping calculation.
Check Your Store → Store Settings → Admin Settings first in the Universal admin. In the Shopify-embedded admin, use Home → Settings → Store Settings → Admin Settings. Measurement Unit chooses cm or in for admin dimensions. Weight Unit chooses kg or lb for weight-based rates. The Store settings determine the units used for new pricing. An existing divisor can keep its original number and unit.
How Frame Fit calculates a price
Frame Fit selects a size boundary from the customer’s width and height. The boundary’s Sign Start Price - (Optional) is the sign’s starting price. Component and mounting charges can add to it. Text can change without a per-letter charge from Frame Fit.
For Flat parcel, the shipping calculation is sign width × sign height × rate per square length unit. The Store’s length unit determines whether the displayed area and rate use cm² or in².
For Volumetric parcel, the app calculates parcel weight first. For a sign other than a Lightbox:
(sign width + width allowance) × (sign height + height allowance) × Fixed Sign Depth ÷ Volumetric divisor = parcel weight
For a Lightbox, use Maximum Depth + Depth Packaging Allowance in place of Fixed Sign Depth. Multiply parcel weight by the rate per kg or per lb to get the shipping price. This shipping price is separate from the sign’s starting price.
The Store settings support four divisor units:
Store length and weight | New divisor unit | Suggested starting value |
cm and kg | cm³/kg | 5000 |
in and lb | in³/lb | 139 |
cm and lb | cm³/lb | 2268 |
in and kg | in³/kg | 305 |
The 305 in³/kg value is calculated from the metric suggestion. It is not a carrier quote. Use the divisor that your shipping carrier gives you. An existing divisor can keep its entered unit after Store settings change. Read its full unit before you edit it.
Worked example: centimetres and kilograms
This example uses a non-Lightbox sign and a 5000 cm³/kg divisor.
-
The sign is 40 cm wide and 20 cm high. Add 10 cm to each dimension. The parcel is 50 × 30 × 10 cm with a 10 cm Fixed Sign Depth.
-
Parcel volume is 50 × 30 × 10 = 15,000 cm³.
-
Parcel weight is 15,000 ÷ 5000 = 3.00 kg.
-
At £4.00/kg, shipping is 3.00 × £4.00 = £12.00.
The customer price breakdown shows the divisor as 5000 cm³/kg, the weight as 3.00 kg, the rate and the £12.00 shipping charge.
Worked example: inches and pounds
This example uses a non-Lightbox sign and a 139 in³/lb divisor.
-
The sign is 8 in wide and 8 in high. Add 2 in to each dimension. The parcel is 10 × 10 × 10 in with a 10 in Fixed Sign Depth.
-
Parcel volume is 10 × 10 × 10 = 1000 in³.
-
Parcel weight is 1000 ÷ 139 = 7.194… lb. The customer price breakdown shows 7.19 lb.
-
At £1.00/lb, shipping is £7.19 after the price is rounded.
The customer price breakdown shows the divisor as 139 in³/lb, the weight as 7.19 lb, the rate and the £7.19 shipping charge. The app calculates with a stored metric equivalent. Its unrounded weight differs slightly from 1000 ÷ 139. Both give 7.19 lb in this example.
Depth and Shopify options
For non-Lightbox volumetric pricing, every Fixed Sign Depth must be above zero. Later size boundaries may use an equal or smaller depth. For Lightbox pricing, every Maximum Depth must be above zero and each later boundary must have a greater depth. Add Depth Packaging Allowance when needed.
Select Add weight to product instead of calculating price to use the calculated weight for Shopify checkout rates. The customiser then adds no volumetric shipping charge to the product price. Shopify receives kilograms by default. If pound shipping is enabled for your Store, Shopify receives pounds. Check Weight sent to Shopify on the generated product details.
The customer customiser’s displayed centimetres or inches are set separately under Settings → General Settings → Measurement Unit. The customer price breakdown uses the Store’s length and weight settings for its volume, weight and rate labels.
